The program will start in November 2017 and the deadline for applying for the 2017 intake is 30 April 2016. The selection process will take about two months. The DRD-SA offers two PhD scholarships to well qualified students from Sub-Sahara Africa. We award these scholarships in a competitive procedure purely on academic merit and qualification. Scholarships include monthly allowances of 900 Euro plus travel allowances for PhD candidates.

Candidates who wish to apply directly to the PhD IDS of Ruhr-University Bochum should consult the website of the Insitute of Development Research and Development Policy for details. For further information please contact the Bochum coordinator of the DRD, Britta Niklas.
For international degrees the equivalence will be judged during the application process. Candidates who have to follow preparatory studies before admission to the PhD in International Development Studies can be accepted for such preparatory studies at the Ruhr University Bochum.
