Structured PhD

The PhD programme is presented in conjunction with the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy at the Ruhr-University, Bochum, Germany. There will be a taught component which will take place in Germany and a thesis component, based in Cape Town.

Offered Courses

Based on the agreement with the respective PhD supervisor and the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy DRD-SA scholarship holders can choose from a variety of courses to enhance their skill levels.

Generally, the courses taken should be related to the topic of the PhD thesis. Please note that submitting a research proposal of your PhD project to the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy is a prerequisite for attendance in the course programme (Guidelines for writing a research proposal).
