Master in Public Administration (MPA)

histoThe School of Government's Masters in Public Administration (MPA) offers students a balanced and relevant mix of practical and theoretical skills. It is also a multi-disciplinary degree, drawing widely on the skills and experience of the School's cognate departments. In the first year of the programme students are provided with a solid foundation in the theory and practice of governance, public policy and public administration, as well as in a range of analytical, practical, communication and research skills. In the second year, they will work under supervision to produce a mini-thesis, and attend and make presentations at research seminars.

Successfull students of the Masters programme will be awarded the degree Master in Public Administration of UWC. Excellent students can receive the MA in Development Management degree of Ruhr-University Bochum as a second degree if they fulfil additional requirements (see 2nd degree option for further information).

The MPA starts every year with the next intake in February 2011.

Applicants with an excellent academic record will have the opportunity to apply for a DRD scholarship for their studies (see scholarship section for more information).

Furthermore, participants will be given the opportunity to apply for a study period at Ruhr-Universiy Bochum in Germany, which can be supported through a mobility scholarship of the DRD.
