Objectives: Students have gained an overview over relevant actors in the field of international development co-operation with a special focus on International Governmental Organisations (IGOs) and International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs). They know about distinguishing criteria of these actors, their formal structures, their ‘modi operandi' as well as their development over time are considered with the help of real world examples. The Centre congratulates Dr. Charlton Tsodzo, who successfully defended his PhD thesis on Tuesday, 20th December 2011. He is the first graduate of the International Development Studies Doctoral Programme of the Centre! He wrote his thesis on "The Role of Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Improving Health Outcomes in Developing Countries: The Case of the SimPill Technology & Tuberculosis Treatment in South Africa". The PhD thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Werner Voss. The second supervisor was Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Löwenstein. |
