AIDS and Development - Course Information
This course seeks to understand the AIDS pandemic in Africa in relationship to a complex set of political, cultural, social, economic and historical dynamics related to power, inequality, unequal development and global capital. Students will be challenged to re-think the AIDS pandemic and understand how the medical and dominant ‘stories' of HIV and AIDS constructed over two decades ago in the North continue to undermine local participation and the discovery of local solutions.
